Fostering Intentional Partnerships In Medical Education
Tufundishane (tu-fun-deh-SHAWN-ay) is a Swahili word meaning "let us all teach one another".
The Tufundishane Collaborative is a partnership of the University of Minnesota and the medical professionals of Arusha Lutheran Medical Center and Selian Lutheran Hospital in Arusha, Tanzania. The collaboration is based on our shared value of mutual learning among international colleagues.
Vision
Our aim is to strengthen the Tanzanian health care system by focusing on capacity building with the Tanzanian health care workers, and fostering international partnerships between Minnesota and Arusha.
Through the efforts of Tufundishane, medical educators from the Minnesota and Tanzania are able to collaborate and exchange effective practices for global populations. We facilitate bringing medical residents and faculty educators from the University of Minnesota Medical School to Selian Hospital and Arusha Lutheran Medical Center to work on small-scale bedside, individually focused teaching.
The Tufundishane Collaboration goal is to provide the Tanzanian health care professionals the knowledge they need to build their own self-sustaining medical system.
Tufundishane Collborative is one of many projects at the University of Minnesota Medical School. Please see the University of Minnesota Department of Medicine's Global Health site for details of our and the rest of their projects working to improve health for people in Minnesota and around the world.
